My Story

My love for filmmaking began when I was very young, growing up in Brazil and borrowing my mother’s camera to make “documentaries” starring my toys. What started as a playful curiosity quickly grew into a lifelong passion for storytelling. That early spark led me to pursue my dream of studying film in Canada, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Motion Picture Arts from Capilano University.

Since graduating, I’ve been developing a creative practice that merges my background in film with mixed media techniques, incorporating elements like stop-motion, illustration, and practical effects to tell stories in visually layered and emotionally unique ways.

As a director, I’m known for my stop-motion shorts Asphodel Fields Forever (2025)Lost Media (2024), Cranberry Juice (2023), and Feral (2023), which have screened at festivals across Canada and the US. Cranberry Juice and Lost Media received Best Writing awards at the Run N Gun Film Competition two years in a row, with additional nominations for Best Film, Art Direction, Editing, and Sound. I also directed It Gets Dark Too Early (2022), a moody vampire short and my first live-action short, which found an unexpected online audience and sparked a wave of fan art and responses that continue to reach me today. These personal projects have helped shape my voice as a filmmaker and have gained recognition within Vancouver’s indie film community.

Malibu Taetz

Director & Composer

Any time I have the opportunity to work and collaborate with Rebeca, I will always take it. She brings excellence to everything that she does, and a deep creativity. There are people who contribute to projects through their hard work and ideas, and people who contribute to a project simply by their presence and the environment they bring. Rebeca does both.

We’ve collaborated on numerous live-action projects, and some very special animated ones too. Rebeca is a master at animation and brings her own unique style to the artform, while at the same time adapting perfectly to the style and spirit of every project she is a part of.

Chris Wilkinson

Executive Producer & CEO, Hadron Films

Having worked with Rebeca on a wide range of projects and witnessing her skills, determination and resourcefulness first hand, I would highly recommend her for any role requiring a dedicated partner in the editing, animation or general post production space.

Rebeca has proven herself time and time again as a dependable talent with an incredibly friendly disposition, neither of which I have seen falter in the face of a busy workload. Her ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining work quality and organization was an asset we depended on and that I'm sure will benefit any company in need of a strong creative editor. Strong recommend on Rebeca!

Eloise Cameron-Smith

Producer, Hadron Films

Rebeca is a hard working and creative team member, who was a real joy to work with! She took on increased responsibilities over her time at Hadron Films and always delivered excellent work on time!

Outside of her work as an editor, Rebeca is an extremely talented writer, director and animator and I can't wait to see what she makes next, I'd wholeheartedly recommend her to any post-producer!
